VAE regulations in France

In France, the legislation authorizes an engine of 250W maximum continuous rated power.

“Maximum continuous rated power” means the maximum power on the output shaft of an electric motor for thirty minutes, as defined in UNECE Regulation No 85”. Feeding is gradually reduced and eventually discontinued when the vehicle reaches a speed of 25 km/h and the cyclist stops pedalling.
