Dutch-specific bicycle designs are intended for everyday urban use rather than leisure or road riding. These bikes generally do not have mountain bike features. The name not only describes a bike made in the Netherlands, but also a specific type of bike that originated in the country and became popular around the world.

It is designed for urban use. It is very popular with students and office workers, who use it in their daily travels.
Dutch bikes stand out from others for their sturdiness and ride comfort. It is easily recognizable by the particular shape of its downward curved frame, which gives it a slightly vintage look. It also comes with a complete set of transport accessories such as baskets, bags or luggage racks.
The popularity of this style of bike continues to grow; it is particularly appreciated by urban cyclists. Although bikes made in the Netherlands are not considered Dutch bikes, bikes for everyday urban use can be made anywhere.
In the pedaling position, the body of this organism creates a crescent shape.
Bikes that lean forward allow you to go faster in the wind. For mountain bikes and road bikes, leaning forward improves aerodynamics. Watching the road instead of being pushed into the wind forces cyclists to raise their heads. This causes shoulder pain and fatigue from the weight of a body leaning forward. The natural curve of the bike relieves back strain and keeps the seated position straight on the body. To avoid the adverse effects on the back of riding the bike, it has built-in features like a footrest and suspension.
A metal frame maintains a flexible material that naturally rebounds after absorbing strong impacts.
When stationary, a wide seat tube angle makes it easier to lift off the ground.
The 28-inch tires, also called 700 millimeters, provide a smoother ride than the 26-inch 650-millimeter tires. Indeed, they ride better on the road when road imperfections are taken into account. Suspension saddles often feature leather or foam padding for added comfort. They are typically used with bikes that have an upright position.
A high frame ensures a correct sitting position with additional height options.
• Maintenance
The overhaul of a vehicle requires regular maintenance, even if the objective is to minimize the intervals between overhauls. A Dutch bicycle that travels 14 miles a day must repair 5,000 kilometers by the end of the year. To minimize the frequency of regular maintenance work on their bikes, Dutch riders choose tubular wheels, V-brakes and a derailleur system.
The shifter integrated into the rear hub with a derailleur replaced it. This only requires maintenance every 5,000 kilometers.
Hub integrated brakes replace pad brakes which are weather resistant and extremely durable.
– The thin chain of the derailleur is replaced by a wide chain, strong and durable, with adjustable tension and does not derail
– Large tires (with obvious air cushion between road and rim) and reinforced to avoid the risk of bursting.
– Pedal backwards and avoid cables (even if some models have handlebar grips like other types of bikes).
Pedal without dirtying your clothes
For mountain biking, if the chain isn't cleaned, riding in wet weather can lead to mud on your clothes and oil stains on your shins. To go to work properly, it is therefore necessary to adopt solutions to protect clothing:
– Wide wings with flaps for water pits;
– The chain is hidden in an integral shell to prevent the bottom of the pants from touching it
– The steel frame of the traditional bicycle is protected by epoxy paint, stainless steel screws and fenders galvanized before painting to prevent rust.
